Director

Wende Goode

Helping others has always been an instinct of Wende's.

Born in Arkansas, Wende graduated high school in Lake Jackson, Texas, and met the man who would become her husband (Tyler Norris Goode) while they were at Stephen F. Austin State University in East Texas.

Wende earned her bachelor's in social work from SFA then got her master's in the same field from Texas-Arlington.

Wende and Tyler moved to North Carolina in 1997 and now have two sons: Tristin Norris and WestinJohn Moses.

If Vine of the Mountains is known for nothing else, we want a reputation for being the place anyone -- regardless of past mistakes and background -- can come for spiritual and physical support.

The mission of the Community Outreach Director is: To assess needs and equip our members with tools and resources to befriend their fellow Vine community & beyond.

There are three areas that the Community Outreach Director oversees:

Here – this includes areas of service directly to the Vine community & Life Together events that are used to strengthen the Vine community

There – serving of Haywood County and nearby areas alongside other non-profits or individuals

Everywhere – going beyond what is nearby – “going to all the world"

Serving is not easy – it takes putting your heart out there and most likely providing love will involve heartbreak. But as long as you are serving you are not failing.

Befriending the Community
GO. SERVE. LOVE.

* Good Samaritan Clinic
* Haywood Christian Ministries (annual post office food drive each May)
* The Vineival – is a ministry that we provide for Central Elementary Students. Each year we hold a carnival where all Central Elementary Students are invited to come play games and eat food. Each student receives a new backpack and all of their needed school supplies for the coming year. (2014 was our 8th year, and 106 students and their families were served)
* Samaritans Purse - Operation Christmas Child is an event that we have participated in for many years. Each year it our goal to touch as many children’s lives as possible. (In 2014, we packed 141 boxes); In 2015 we have challenged everyone to pack 12 boxes, one a month. The way to do this challenge is to buy 12 toothbrushes in January, 12 items on Valentine clearance in February, 12 toothpaste tubs in March, 12 items on Easter clearance in April….. then in November you pack your 12 boxes and adding items to make the box as full as possible. Also encourage those participating to aside $7 a month to ship the boxes.
* Compassion International (e-mail Dionne Ghaussy, our local contact)
* YWAM – Dan Snyder, Molly Fish & Mason Stephens
